Open Position: Lab Technician at the Learning Circuits Lab at IDIBAPS
The Learning Circuits Lab (https://learningcircuitslab.github.io) affiliated with IDIBAPS (www.clinicbarcelona.org/en/idibaps) is currently looking for a Research Lab Technician to work in our group. Our lab offers an interdisciplinary stimulating environment, that values rigor, collaboration, close mentoring and critical and positive thinking. We are also an active member of the Barcelona Cognitive Computational and Systems Neuroscience community (barccsyn.org), and are part of the bigger Brain Circuits and Behavior Lab (https://braincircuitsbehavior.org).
This is an opportunity for a strongly motivated person to work to develop her/his general research skills as well as to learn state-of-the-art System Neuroscience methodologies.
We offer:
A 3 years contract to become the main Lab technician and Lab Manager of our team, participating in most, if not all, laboratory activities.

You will:
Train mice to perform perceptual tasks using a highly automated computer-controlled system that records and controls the behavioral apparatus.
Perform brain surgeries for implanting subcranial electrodes, cannulas, fibers, and tracing and pharmacological substances.
Conduct behavioral experiments during which animals’ brain activity will be recorded or manipulated.
Quantify and monitor the behavioral performance of the animals using custom-made software. Make simple reports about behavioral performance using simple data analysis programs (e.g. Excell, Python).
Place laboratory orders regarding the animal experiments.
Manage the organization of the lab, stocks, etc.
Our requirements:
Previous experience working with mice and rats is an advantage.
Responsibility, attention to detail and high motivation.
Excellent interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving skills as well as organizational capabilities.
Ability to keep track of multiple experiments simultaneously.
Fluency in English (spoken and written). Notions of Spanish or Catalan will be a plus.
